Okay so I know that the eyes are one of the toughest areas to get right when doing your makeup.  There’s so much that you can screw up: an oddly drawn eyebrow, a stray mark there, the wrong shade of eyebrow powder and your whole look  is ruined.

One of my favorite eye makeup tricks is a multi tasking eyeliner.  I like to use the same eyeliner for both my eyes and eyebrows.  This way I can get two uses out of just one tool.  The trick is to choose a shade that is slightly lighter than your hair color.  I have dark brown/black hair so my eyeliner is a medium brown shade.  It’s still enough to define my eyes without too much contrast while the color is still good for filling in my eyebrows and blending in with my natural hair color.

Another tip is that you can also use certain sparkle lipshades as a quick emergency highlighter.  For a quick pick me up, just a tiny dab and swipe along your brow bone and at the inner corners of your eyes will freshen up tired eyes.

One eye makeup that cannot be replaced is a good mascara.  Every woman will have different needs depending on her eyelash thickness, volume, and length so you will need to shop around and find the right one for you.  If you have oily skin then you should avoid waterproof formulas because the oils on your cheeks and eyelids will cause the mascara to smudge.  On the other hand, if you are an athlete or if you are going to go swimming, then a waterproof formula will be the best choice.

One easy thing you can do to prep your lashes is to use an eyelash growth product such as Revitalash.  These easy to use products can be applied at night and work on your lashes while you are asleep.  You should check out these eyelash growth products reviews including Revitalash to make sure you have a reasonable expectation and are aware of the potential side effects.  It usually takes about 2 months before you notice any results but usually most women notice new eyelashes growing in along their lash line before they see their eyelashes growing longer.

Here are some quick eye makeover tips for different types of eyes.

  • If you have large deep set eyes then you should stay with a light eyeshadow color and use a highlighter along your eyelids to bring them forward.  This will keep your eyes from looking sunken in and tired.  You should use a dark eyeliner to define your eyes but stay away from dark colors as this will only make your eyes look even more deep set.
  • For those of you with wide set eyes you should stay with thick bold eyebrows.  This will help your eye area look more in proportion.  If necessary you may need to draw out your eyebrows so that they look closer together.  You will want to stay with darker eye shadow shades as this will make the empty space between your eyes seem smaller.
  • On the other hand, if your eyes are close together then you should stay with lighter colors and shimmers for your eye shadows.  Use white eyeliner or a highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes to open up the center of your face and emphasize the outer corners of your eyes with dramatic eyeliner or mascara.  Avoid using too much eyeliner on the inner corners of your eyes as this will just make them look like they’re closer to each other.
  • If you wear glasses then you have both an instant cure for dark circles and a veil in front of your eyes that can hide your best features.  You will want to choose an eye shadow color that contrasts with the color of your glasses.  Otherwise the two will blend together and your gorgeous makeup can end up lost behind your glasses
